Analyst: Gardening Leave?
Currently an analyst at a BB about to quit and go to a competitor. Am on a few very confidential projects.
Can the company impose gardening leave and if so - for how long?

Following. If bank cut you off the day you put in two week notice but you’re still on payroll for the next two weeks, do this two weeks period count towards the non compete window?
Gardening leave only applies to VP and up. Check your contract to be 100% sure, but can't think of a single BB that requires this of juniors - they would have to pay you, which they don't want to do.
Protocol as an analyst is you are asked to leave the day you quit (start bringing stuff home now) and your standard 2 week notice is still paid out. Obviously this is a bit sticky if you're aware of large impending M&A, but analysts leave all the time with this type of info. Just don't tell anyone at the new firm.
Got it, thanks. What do you mean by "sticky" when aware of large impending M&A? That gardening leave could be enforced? Thanks.
Sticky like not a good situation, especially if your new firm is in the same industry and/or puts you on the same client.
Gardening leave can't be enforced if it's not in your contract, analysts will always have the 2 week notice and that's it unless your contract specifically says otherwise
Wrong. I know for a fact that Associates get garden leave at certain banks.
How long is the garden leave for associates?
Bump please
