Apply Early Decision to Wharton?

Hey guys, I just finished up my junior year, and my stats seem to be good enough to get into some type of target, even though they are not ultra-spectacular. Do you think it would be a good idea to apply Early Decision to Wharton? It would give me a good boost in terms of chances, but would automatically rule out HYP and other schools for regular decision if I got in. While I would be very happy if I got into Wharton, I just want to make sure that passing up the (small) chance to get into HYP isn't an idiot's move.

Also, I definitely want to do business, if that counts for anything.

Any thoughts?

Passing up HYP for Wharton is by no means an idiot's move. I did that to not miss out on Yale, ended up missing both Wharton and Yale. My brother did early decision to Wharton and loves it. That's what I would've done, but as consultant mentioned, consider more than just banking when assessing colleges. You may change your mind or respond to the types of people you are around differently. Just don't pass on Wharton b/c you don't want to be bound; apply at the regular time for better reasons.

In terms of banking recruiting, I believe that Wharton and Harvard are about the same, and Yale/Princeton are slightly less. If you care about having a more "intellectual experience" in college, then Harvard would be better. Otherwise, by all means apply ED to Penn. The only thing you'd be missing out on then is the privilege to brag to some bum on the street that you go to Harvard
