Appropriate to ask interviewer what went wrong

Had a superday a couple weeks ago and recently got dinged. Is it appropriate to reach out to the interviewers (have their contact info cause I wrote thank you emails and got responses) and ask them for advice on what I could improve on? I’m genuinely curious if this is acceptable or would it be seen as too pushy. Thought I crushed the super, so I’m not sure why I didn’t get an offer and am looking for serious ways to improve. Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

I always ask this, they always just bullshit me and say “you didn’t do anything wrong we just wanted to pursue other candidates at the time.”

Yikes. So how do I figure out why I got dinged... really disappointed cause I thought I smashed the interviews.

Sometimes you kill it but there may be other people that killed it even more, keep your head up and keep trying

I also highly recommend reaching out to ask that

Completely appropriate - but would phrase as "What could I have done to better stand out as a candidate for this role" vs. "What went wrong". Growth mindset vs. defeatist attitude. The fact you're even considering reaching out shows that you're humble, which tells me that assuming you put in the work, you will succeed in this business. Good luck :)
