Asset Management to IB
Hi everyone,
Today I was offered a role internally as an Asset Manager. I'm currently an Analyst. I know this is a big jump so context: I was brought on originally as a consultant to hire so my technical title was just "Analyst" but I have the experience so the move towards a perm senior role was the goal. However, I'm still a consultant at this point with a long term goal of a MBA, then into Investment Banking. Before this I was at a boutique PE, and before that I spent two years in investment management.
So my question here is if accepting this role will be helpful for my goal of IB. My role does give me exposure to many portfolio acquisitions and deals and working with our other partners such as JPMorgan. I've also been working on a lot of capital restructuring projects and consolidation of assets, and reporting. This will give you an idea of what my role is like. I've been told as long as I get experience with the skill set needed for IB then I should be alright, but I was hoping to get any feedback from others who might have gone down a similar path.
Thanks
Might help, but why? IB is to break into roles like asset management.
