Bankers who leave banking (finance professionals in general) and join tech startups, what value do you bring? Business knowledge? Money? Connections?
I always wondered why a tech startup would hire an ex-finance professional when their experience is just, or mostly, in finance and has nothing to do with tech.
I have the same question for those who graduate from top business schools: How do you sell yourself to a startup? Do you just network and say, “hey, I’m great at business and I have tons of money. Sign me up?”
What do you think tech companies do? Also, how do you define a startup?
There’s plenty of value an ex banker can add from mini acquisitions/ Corp dev, to just being a work horse that is sharp and capable to help with momentum of the business in any area, to assisting with the finances of the business.
