BB/EB or UMM IB still open or reopening.

Have a MM SA IB gig but not really satisfied with my offer as my ultimate goal is UMM/MF PE. Wanted to ask any banks that were reopening so I could get into the process. Should I switch my focus to consulting since I ultimately want to get into PE (3.6 GPA, Target, President of the best finance club at my school, HF Soph internship)

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights:

  1. Reopening of BB/EB or UMM IB: The context provided does not specify which banks are currently reopening or still open for applications. It's advisable to keep an eye on job boards, network with industry professionals, and reach out to recruiters to get the latest updates on openings.

  2. Switching Focus to Consulting for PE:

    • Consulting vs. Banking for PE: Consulting can offer broader exit options compared to banking. While banking experience can make you more competitive for roles that require deal diligence, deal process, and modeling, consulting can also make you competitive in these areas if you work on diligence or finance-focused projects. Additionally, consulting can open up opportunities in strategy and operations-focused roles.
    • PE Exit Opportunities: Some PE firms prefer candidates with banking backgrounds, but there are also firms that value consulting experience, especially for roles that require strategic and operational insights.
  3. Your Profile:

    • GPA and School: A 3.6 GPA from a target school is strong.
    • Leadership and Experience: Being the president of the best finance club at your school and having a hedge fund internship as a sophomore are impressive credentials that can bolster your application for both banking and consulting roles.
  4. Advice:

    • Networking: Continue to network with professionals in both banking and consulting to understand the latest hiring trends and opportunities.
    • Self-Reflection: Consider what excites you more—financial modeling and deal-making (banking) or strategic and operational problem-solving (consulting). This can help guide your decision.

I know that DB has re-opened apps, but based off your previous posts I am not sure if that will matter to you...otherwise they re-opened apps about 4 days ago
