Best approach to learn modelling for PE

Am starting as an 1st Year Analyst this year and looking to prepare for on-cycle PE recruiting.

Just curious to hear what everyone’s plan of attack was for preparing for recruiting. Which resources/courses were best to master modelling and what order did you do them in? Would appreciate a step by step break down if possible!

Thanks in advance!

Bump, incoming analyst as well. Interested to hear if there are any specific courses to help prepare for interviews.

Also, from what I've seen on this website, on cycle for current analyst 1's has not happened yet. Does anyone know if incoming analysts will compete with current analysts for on-cycle, or will there be different processes for the two?

The 1st and 2nd years will have access to pdfs/modeling tests passed down. Start working through those, multiple expansion is also pretty good.

I've found that the modeling itself isn't that difficult but it's more about getting from an 80-85% understanding to 100%. It depends on your class and firm sentiment around PE but leaning on your peers is a good bet. Don't pay for anything right now.
