best grid tech / clean energy groups

interested in all the new grid tech (batteries, smart meters, etc.). wondering  what the best groups for this to get deal reps under my belt are. I'm going to a clean energy group FT but not sure how strong the deal flow has been lately. Any suggestions here would be great. 

Eventual goal would be to exit to or later on work at an EIP, Fifthwall, Lowercarbon type of firm (not too early stage but energy tech growth stage investing type of firms). Would appreciate any insight here.

Any renewables or all tech/industrials widgets, best groups would be just straight power groups without the extra spice

Not rly true imo, the straight power groups focus more on mid and large cap utilities, IPPs, transmission, etc. the clean energy groups focus more on private start upy companies / companies tangential to power generation (ie solar widgets / trackers). Average valuation of these is prob a fraction of avg valuation of companies pure power groups focus on
