Stern isn't comprable to ivys. Focus exclusively on empirical placement. In school technical training doesn't mean shit, everyone is getting it, it doesn't distinguish you. Learn the technicals yourself and get into the most prestigious school you can.

Since technical training doesn’t matter, does the major matter?

At what point does the major and technical skills matter to shore up the non target?

No what I am saying is do not pick a school because it has good technical training.

Get into the most prestigious school you can and learn the technicals yourself to pass interviews.

If your at a non-target, you still need technicals. However, picking one school over a more prestigious one because of technicals doesn't make sense.

For example you will get a better finance education at UT Austin as compared to Dartmouth.

However, Dartmouth kids can easily learn technicals outside the classroom and actually get interviews. At publics your competing against way more hardos who know more about finance and have way fewer placements
