BofA UPDATE SA 2020
Hey guys, wanted to start a new thread on BofA SA, as the last one was getting too many trolls on it. Has anyone been updated at all? I spoke with HR and it looks like the program is going to be 100% virtual. also, they told me that it may be for the full duration. any thoughts or updates?
I haven't been updated but I'd imagine that since HR said they'd update us on placement day about 4 weeks after April 2nd, I'd imagine we'd hear updates about the program sometime later this week on Thursday. What else did HR say tho? Is the start date getting moved to July?
yea pretty weird but I was told that it will most likely be moved to July and be virtual, but there is also a possibility that is is virtual for the entire period similar to other companies outside of banking.
wait you mean everything besides banking would be full virtual?
they said it's gonna be full virtual?
Guys. Not from BofA but obviously it’s going to be all virtual.
Idk man. If it's so obvious, you'd think they would have already told us. They must be debating something.
Imo, it obviously won't be a regular in-person internship. But given the questions that they've been asking us, I think a in-person internship with a delayed start is a real possibility.
They may be debating something, or they're maybe checking to see if their firm's current infrastrucure can support an online program, or maybe if it can't, they're waiting to setup the barbones before announcing working from home...Who knows...
At this point I am torn between wanting it to be in person or fully virtual. That rent saved will go a long way in making quality of life improvements, I mean, have you SEEN a Herman Miller chair omg xd
yeah they're ugly as fuck
wtf
I do not think it will be virtual. I got a call from HR and they notified my about things like "You must let us know at least one day before your starting date if you believe to have had any exposure to COVID-19." This in addition to a few questions asking if I had recently traveled or been in contact with anyone showing symptoms.
Why would they care about those things if I were to just sit at home. In addition, the fact that they've been taking so long to release any update, makes me think their plans are more complex than simply going virtual.
But don’t you think they won’t let interns in until at least 90% of ft staff is back in the building, which seems unlikely until the fall
That call was to get fingerprint testing. JP Morgan had you do that part in person as well but went fully virtual.
That makes sense and I completely agree with your logic. However, either I misunderstood something but I am quite sure they referred to the actual start date in regards to COVID and not the fingerprinting appointment.
BofA hr,if you’re reading this - if you give me an automatic ft offer I will literally work with you till the day I die, I swear on my mom’s life. Fuck PE, fuck all of that
LOL?
I cringed
Ugh, send my condolences to your friends for your lack of humour.
I spoke to a
Adding onto this, NYU summer intern housing just announced as of yesterday that they will not open up for the summer anymore. I think if BofA decided to bring everyone to the city they’d have to accommodate all those interns which would be a disaster.
The s&t placement day scheduled for this Friday was pushed back, so it seems likely that our internship start date will get pushed as well.
Why kids here never understand - auto-return offers are off the table at BofA. The firm will make an update when there’s more clarity wrt Covid-19.
Then what’s on the table? If they aren’t doing ft offers and they obviously aren’t doing an in-person internship and they aren’t cancelling it (per their email), then what are they still mulling over?
They still hope for some in-person component, especially for the non-NYC offices.
source ? and u never know I feel
Have spoken with multiple senior people at the firm. The consensus right now is no auto return offer.
why is it off the table?
I don’t think full length in person is off the table. Especially for non-NYC
I don’t know why it takes them such a long time to make a decision when all the other American banks have at least updated some info. I assume that they are debating something very important. If there is no auto FT offer or in-person internship in the end, I think their reaction to the situation is quite poor and slow compared to other banks.
APAC Non-IB SA just receive HR update very likely to be virtual; will provide details later didn’t mention auto full time I’ll treat it as a sign of no auto FT
Also received. I guess the email only confirm that the orientation and training will be virtual? Hope you hear your thoughts.
what did they say, specifically? I am NYC and we also have not heard since the survey
APAC FT - still haven't heard back since the survey
.
Has everyone in NY offices received fingerprint emails?
nope
There’s no way we’re starting June 1 if people still haven’t even received onboarding documents...
yes I
Anyone have any idea what's taking so long for an update?
Honestly, if they were just going to go virtual then they would've said it a long time ago. I don't really believe in full time offers but they might be working on delaying the start and making it in person or something.
Current BofA Analyst, we have 5 summer analyst joining this year. As far as I know, no one knows exactly what's going on. I'm not in the NYC or Charlotte office, so a lot of the decision is going to be made by the market president. Even the head of group isn't sure what exactly going to happen and how we are going to work. However, I will definitively recommend summer analyst on my team to recruit elsewhere for full time, because I just don't see how they can have all these analyst sitting around doing nothing. As far as I'm concern the difference between an associate and analyst on my group is very small. For the past year, I have been doing associate work and I'm showing associates how to get stuff done. Historically, we didnt have a large analyst class either, but the group head decided to expand headcounts given increase in deals, however this has been hit hard by COVID-19. I have seen my hours going from ~60 hours of real work to 20 hours on some weeks.
Not to scare any of you new S/A, but I will make sure I have a backup plan. Other than that, just relax and enjoy the ride. I'm sure all of you will be ok.
I see your point about reduced work right now but the incoming SAs won’t start FT training until Summer 2021 and then won’t be contributors until Fall 2021, so how much does it matter that work is slow right now?
If you're not in NY or Charlotte, and you have 5 SAs joining, then it sounds like you are in Houston, as LA and SF both have more than 5 joining, which would explain the lack of work.
Or potentially
5 analyst for a group is relatively large number, never stated that the entire city is hiring 5 analyst. We didn't do any full time or S/A recruiting last year, just lateral hires, and most analyst stay for associate promo, probably 1/4 move to other opportunities. So, there's really no need to hire 5 2021 full time analyst, if business continues to slow. The point of this message is work flow to headcount this summer just doesn't make sense. We don't expect S/A to contribute anything to our work, just want them to use this opportunity to learn. However, if we have no work and continues to WFH, people will just finish the work by themselves because it's more time efficient. Lastly, I just want to convey the message that it's important to have a backup plan. I was in similar boat a year ago and know exactly the feeling that everyone is experiencing, but unfortunately COVID-19 is unpredictable.
Which city or geographic region is your office if you don't mind sharing?
Yeah this isn't the Palo Alto office
Fully virtual 6-8 weeks starting June 15
Is this for all BofA interns? I didn't get an update. nvm was in spam lol
haven't received the email yet (Asia) but lmao same all my baml emails keep going to junk i don't know why
IB groups (NY) are calling interns to update them on their placements.
wat g
anyone else not get a call yet for placement ?
Which groups called?
So far have heard of healthcare and tmt, not sure what others.
Anyone have any ideas/thoughts on how a virtual internship would look for interns on different timezones to the country they're interning? I am personally in Aus with my internship in London which means 9am London time would be 6pm here.
I am personally in US with internship in APAC (Tokyo). HR said to me replying to my inquiry: "we may schedule something for you that will align with your time zone instead (we don't want you to be working during the midnight just because of time difference!)". But she did add that they are still finalizing everything and could only confirm at a later date. I also posted this in the larger "BAML 2020 SA" thread and had a bit of discussion with other people, if you want to check it out.
.
I haven't heard anything yet, interviewed with Levfin, REGL, and C&R. Which groups have called aside from HC and TMT as mentioned above?
.
Still no call... surprising that its so spread out.
how long does the pre-work take? thanks!
The financial learning modules are like 15 mins each. Do you see the excel course on your account?
I didn’t see the excel course either
anyone else's workday stuck at 83% even after completing everything?
Yeah not just you dw
ty, not sure why you got MS
Anybody else not been placed for NY IBD yet?
U should have been
Do you know for sure that every group has called? I still haven’t seen anyone post about M&A, lev fin, sponsors, and some of the industry groups.
I don’t know, but I know that most have called. wouldn’t be too worried
anyone got an email notification for workday saying that there are one or more onboarding activities to complete but there's nothing showing on the workday platform itself for you to do?
are u USA or International? also what is workday?
APAC
it's another hr onboarding platform
Reckon there's any chance they will give us an allowance/reimbursement for a WFH set up?
I mean, we're still getting our relocation bonus...
for anyone that did a the fingerprint background check, did you get a confirmation email after it was completed? I didn’t so just wondering
Nope, nothing.
we're not getting laptops, wtf?
Any mention of a stipend for a WFH set up?
no word on that so far
You're still getting a relocation bonus and obviously not relocating. Why do you need an extra WFH stipend?
Has anyone been asked for the bank account/routing number to get paid?
has anyone received the email for I-9 section 2? replied to the email on Tuesday and haven’t heard back
I don’t think so, also replied but didn’t receive anything.
