Breaking into IB outside USA/EU

For context I am a student in Brazil and i am trying to break into investment banking here in my country. I come from a semi target/ non target school (the school is popular but there aren't many people from here in the IB industry). I would like to know how people from non target school here or other non USA/EU countries were able to join the industry. I understand that networking is very important speacially in USA and EU but is it also the most important thing here ? And if it's, what is the best way to do it ? I read a lot of discussions here but i would like to know if there is a different approach i should take. I am already part of the finance club in my university and i am always taking courses and reading to improve my technicals skills but when i am in the interview it looks like the banks don't care about it
