Can We Say IB is Offcially Better Now than Pre-Covid?

All deal types are resumed to a higher level than before, M&A/IPO/RX hotter than ever. I am working on more deals but can stay at home, which always a plus.

In June/July, I was worried about my own job security while countless unemployed bankers email me for a chat. The number of emails decreased significantly now and my group alone (at a EB) hired two people in past 5 months.

Did anyone see this recover/expansion speed coming?

Can’t side with you on this one. Recruiting season seemed busy as ever especially as banks seem to be ramping up hiring in order to deal with flow. Would love to hear what someone inside has to say about this.

WFH is nice, but our shitbag politicians forcibly closing everything in the city makes me suicidal. What's the point of working if I literally can't ever  go out and have fun? The shutdown of indoor dining during the winter has only exasperated the permanent closure of restaurants and bars, going to be real fun coming back for FT in a dead city because of politicians ruining everyone's life for a virus that you have to get tested for to know if you have it.

I would be less concerned about the closure of bars and restaurants and more concerned that the policies of these shitbag politicians have led to a massive increase in violent crime, undereducated children, mass unemployment, increased drug addiction, increased suicide, and an economic restructuring that is hallowing out what remains of this country's prosperity.

But yeah Biden won so "the nightmare is over" or whatever.

BS. Second year analysts are getting destroyed and first year analysts are deers in headlights.

Things are infinitely worse. Going to the office put some difference in my day plus I used to chat and make friends with other analysts etc. Now I'm struggling to find time to sleep and my routine is just sleep 5 hours a day, wake up, go to computer, work, then repeat. Wfh sucks and I can feel just how burned out every junior is getting.
