Canadian Financial System Better Due to Education?

I was comparing the Canadian vs. American profiles of some of the top bankers and executive teams and noticed that Canadians seem to be more educated, almost everyone has a CFA or some sort of Master's Degree working in finance and almost every CFO has a Chartered Accountant designation and there are many bankers with accounting designations. I read that Toronto has the highest number of CFAs per capita in the world. I think there's also a lower percentage of CPAs that are actually CFOs in the States.

Do you think this has had on an impact on Canada's strong economy vs. America's economy? Do you think you learn more from an MBA or from a rigorous/technical program such as the one to get your CFA or CA? It seems like the American path is usually to do an MBA, but unless you go to a top school, it doesn't seem like getting an MBA is that difficult.
