Canceled credit cards affect recruiting

So I previously had cards at a large bank (think citi/BoA credit card) but canceled after getting rewards and before paying 2nd annual fee  also had business cards I canceled as I was kind of an Uber driver on the side.

Now I’m trying to interview and hopefully work at said bank.

Will this somehow hurt my chance? Will they pull this info up somehow? Would it be a big red flag on background checks? Thanks.

Yes. My friend took out a credit card through Bank of America during his sophomore year of college and used it to fund a trip to Mexico for spring break. Fast forward two years and he was going through his last round of interviews. All of a sudden the MD interviewing him mysteriously got a call on his cell phone and hastily walked out of the interview. He walked in a few minutes later and cut the interview short. Turns out my buddy got dinged for missing payments and having a sub 500 credit score. He was completely blackballed from all the bulge brackets as well.

I wonder what he’s up to now days. I no longer associate with him because he’s a fucking peasant.
