Capital Raising/ Fundraising / Placements /BD IR Breakdown Clarity?
Hi All,
Will try to keep it short here. I am interested in the capital raising side of IB/similar. A little background:
I spent over two years in IB recruitment. Focused mainly on M&A. Realized I was very interested in the space, but not into the modeling side of things. Instead, I wanted to combine my writing/people skills/relationship management in an area of banking (however, not HR). Traditionally, I know these skills are more applicable at the more senior levels of banking (origination vs execution etc.) - Really just wondering what roles at the Jr level incorporate these skills.
I was exposed through some searches I was working on to the private placements/fund placement groups at a few of the clients we were retained by. Sounded like a very interesting space, and one that could combine my aptitude for speaking with people and managing relationships.
I am not sure what this function or any skill crossover would fall beneath in banking/PE/HF/similar. I would be interested in capital raising, marketing, relationship management at a HF/MMIB or similar. I am not sure what the titles for these roles are, and what different departments need these types of people. I understand IR is a similar space in to this within banking, but I am more so referring to the origination side of things/fundraising/BD. If IR is another function of this type of role, that is ideal. However, I would want to target more of the capital raising side as well.
Any tips or suggestions on how to break in as well would be helpful. Willing to start low to get involved.
