career choice
I recently received two offers, one for a valuation analyst position at a valuation shop and one as an investment consulting analyst. They're both in the same location and pay pretty much the same, but are obviously very different jobs. I feel that valuation would set me up greater to go into I-Banking later in a career if I want to since it involves many similar job functions such as modeling and valuation, but not much for pitch book making. For a while I was set on the valuation shop, until someone told me that the investment consulting position has a much better reputation and can lead to admission into better graduate business programs. However, the other company is totally different and is investment consulting for 401k and pension plans mostly.
My question is which one has overall better exit opps-- grad school, career movements, etc.
Thanks so much.
mercers hr consulting man...
They are mostly HR, management, human capital, etc... but no-- they have an investment consulting group as well:

i would say managing pensions still qualifies as hr consulting
