Career dilemma - need HELP!!

Hey Guys!!

Just joined WSO!! So I have a question for you guys and I hope you can guide me down the right path.

I am confused about my career. I don’t have the orthodox story.. to many of my friends went to school in finance and ended up working at target. I didn’t want that

I went to work at a bank as a teller and worked My way up. I now work at a bank, still in retail but for the “private client group.” My position is called a Relationship Manager and I manage clients from 200k to 10mm. I have a book of about 125m with 400+ clients. I’m great at my job and earn a great base (90k) plus bonus totaling around 150k a year.

But I don’t feel satisfied... I like my job but I don’t feel happy doing it. I’m not sad or mad but I don’t get the fulfillment I wanted!!

I’m a third year student at a public university in California with an ok gpa.. (3.3)

I want to do something that stimulates my mind!!! I’m considering private banking but that’s just a little more complex than what I do.. we already help clients with structured products, pwm, asset preservation, etc.

A friend of mine got me turned on to commercial banking recently. He just graduated with an MS in finance from USC and got hired as a commercial banker and is working his way up to a RM for middle market banking.. but for now he’s making less than me.. so that worries me a little.

What would you do? What are some interesting career paths I can explore. I’m 23 and I want to set up my career for ultimate success!! I am hoping you incredible finance professionals can try to point me in the right direction!

Thanks guys!
