Career transition into IB, need opinions.
I have worked in financial planning for around 2.5 years now, I graduated college in 2019 with a degree in economics, and I think making a transition into IB makes the lost sense for me. It is more in line with my dream job, and I want to be challenged.
While I think taking online courses can teach me a fair bit, what are my odds of getting directly into IB itself? I have considered going an internship route for summer 2022 if I have to, but I wasn't sure what y'all's thoughts are.
Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Well if you graduated in 2019, you won’t be able to get into any of the formal summer analyst programs. Breaking into IB is a challenge for 98% of candidates so the odds are naturally slim and may even be slimmer in your case. We need more information to help you though.
Target/semi-target/non-target/no alums on the street nontarget school?
What was your cumulative GPA?
I left a few things out and I apologize for that. I went to Texas Tech which isn’t an ideal school. GPA wise I don’t know it off the top of my head, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. Those two reason are why I am teaching myself modeling, and willing to take a lesser job to one day transition into IB if I can’t get in day 1.
It’s going to be extremely difficult, it’s not really about the information you are learning, the problem will be making it to interviews. Just start networking everyday and keep sending out applications You could always do a masters or MBA and try and get in that way
