Cash From Boss - What Do I Give?

Just got a nice Christmas present -- a good amount of cash from my MD boss I work directly for.

Unexpected and exciting. The problem is, I didn't see this coming and didn't get him anything.

I'm a lowly analyst at a BB. I've got to get him something in return this week. He doesn't drink. Any ideas or thoughts? Spending guidelines?

Call girl or nothing.

I'm higher up and I give presents to employees beyond bonuses and expect nothing in return so there's a good chance he's not expecting anything. But gifts that work are a decent pair of gloves, scarves (although this can get pretty pricey and it's not worth buying a cheap one for a guy that probably sticks with cashmere), cufflinks (especially if they have something to do with him-I'm a bit of a history buff and the guys found these handpainted Lincoln cufflinks that are really cool), sports tix but that can get expensive, it's tough to schedule that for a guy that most likely travels a lot and I personally get free tix all the time through work, and check out the travel section at a place like Brookstones as I've received some decent stuff from there in the past. I like the phone charger idea.

Don't go overboard on price. I guarantee you he makes far more than you and probably has just about everything he wants.

I agree with this. When I shower benefience on my juniors, I don't expect reciprocation.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

Mail him a nice card with a personalized message inside and attach a picture of you and your family wearing matching christmas sweaters.

Fucking love this. Even better if you are all looking and pointing at something off center from the camera.
