I know that kids from Concordia have gone into investment banking, particularly in Montreal. It will be tougher in Toronto as the banks here prefer to recruit from Ontario schools with the exception being McGill who does have a strong presence on Bay Street. Regardless of what city you are targeting, I would recommend doing some networking with the firms that you plan on applying to, that might help give you some interviews.

Also don't limit yourself to investment banking. Look for private equity and equity research positions as well. They will give you relevant experience that is easily transferable.

I did not go to Concordia but at first glance it definitely looks like this program could provide you with some valuable experience. Getting involved in investment clubs/programs like this definitely can help open up opportunities by giving you access to a solid network of people who are more likely to be involved in investment banking and can mentor you.

If you are in first or second year you can also look into transferring to Ivey, which does take a significant amount of transfers students, and will open many doors for you.

Everyone in KW places extremely well, it's been a true success story for Concordia (traditionally not a strong uni) which has resulted in an exponential increase of Concordia grads placing in top finance jobs on Bay St / Montreal. I really recommend you try to get into the program if you can, because it can otherwise be a bit hard to get interviews, even if you have a good GPA (banks will generally target 3.7+ so you are really at the cutoff).

Even if you went to Harvard it's unlikely to get into IB just by applying online and expecting calls.

At a non-target you should be contacting every alumni you can get in touch with, as well as alums from other schools. Getting an IB job is very networking based and you need to have people pushing for you, online apps are not going to cut it

i've seen a few people heading to IB from Concordia. While i'm pretty sure that you are going to play up the networking game, also make sure that you get relevant internship experiences along the way. A quick google search will get you to PEs in MTL and I'm pretty sure most of them have Concordia presence. Talk to them and see if something comes up. Keep in touch with these folks. Other than that Concordia should be performing on Bay St as well. Know a couple of these guys in the US but with TN it gets very difficult. Best advice is to get your hands on every single alum you can possibly find.

Been through the process and I can assure you that getting interviews for IB wasn’t hard despite not being in KW. That being said, the percenage of JMSB folks that make it to IB and PE are very low, partly because the percentage of them that actually want work in these fields is low to begin with compared to McGill, etc.

Just network, get a GPA above 3.7, the reevant class, be involved in extracurriculars, and crush interviews.
