Coffee chatting freshmen too hardo?

I'm an incoming freshman at a target (not HYPW), and I'm really excited to be going this fall. If I reach out to current freshmen or maybe sophomores (I don't really know what's appropriate) to hop on a call and ask about things like clubs they're in (finance clubs included) and collegiate life is it going to come across as too tryhard-y? Not sure if I should wait until I'm on campus or not to be doing this kind of thing. Appreciate any thoughts thank you!!

I wish I talked to some of the younger students in the clubs on my campus. Most of the time you only have a couple shots of getting in and the first attempt is the easiest to get in because the bar is pretty low. A lot of the times, alumni at your school will look at a kid in the top club more favorably than someone who is not. P sure there is a lawsuit of an intern claiming P72 is hiring only from a specific fund at UMich. It's insane to think that your career is dependent on what club you were in college because being in the best club usually gets you the best undergrad offers and then it just compounds from there. So reach out to those kids and learn to get in because you'll wish you did

Both. Getting into exclusive clubs is super important for your career, usually you have a shot in the beginning of your freshman year and the spring and maybe also during the beginning of your sophomore year. Earlier you talk to ppl from there the better you understand how to ace the interviews.
