Comps Analysis w/o Database
What would be the plan of action if you were looking to compile public/transaction comps without a firm's database to do the grunt work for you?
Been thinking about how someone without access to CapIQ or the like would be able to come up with something useful. I'd imagine it becomes a never ending string of googling and looking up statements on edgar but I'm not too sure. Any solid programs or databases a layman could use?
My access soon disappears and I'd like to continue getting the practice. Appreciate any feedback.
Most groups use BamSEC. You can link to highlighted text in any document and just copy the link in a cell comment. That’s how you accurately spread comps without relying a 3rd party.
Judging by your username- are you still in college? A lot of times, colleges provide their students access to these datasites (CIQ, PB, etc.) in their library resources through your edu account. After that I'd look at if one of the big players in the space did a deal and if there was a fairness opinion issued. Besides that, afraid googling may be the next option.
