Confused about IBD and PE Associate Salary

I'm confused about salary in IB. Do associates at your general BB start off with ~$100K base, and a bonus of 80-100%? And then for EBs it might be something like $120K base? I'm starting off at an EB, and am finding posts from back in 2015/2016 that base was $95K - wouldn't that have been below market even then? How does comp scale up over your years as an associate? Because on other posts, some other data points for associate bases at the same firm I found were at $150K, $175K, and $200K (again 2015/2016), so I'm guessing that those are for Asoc 1, Asoc 2, Asoc 3 respectively?

In general too, do you typically work 4 years as an associate before moving on to become a VP?
Lastly, how does this comp compare to a pre-MBA PE associate? My understanding is that a pre-MBA PE associate gets paid similar to an IBD associate, but that post-MBA associates may see a skyrocket in their salary because of carry? And so with this same logic, a VP in IBD might make $500K all-in, but a VP in PE might make close to $1MM because of carry?

Thanks!
