Leaked Interview Questions to Recruiting Services

Interviews are kicking off I'm noticing a pretty ridiculous trend this year where a lot of Chinese candidates (who are not the most behaviorally strong) seem to have our sample technical answers memorized word for word. Even when we slightly change the wording of the question they somehow have the exact framework ready..

Buddy of mine mentioned these recruiting agencies charging 50k collect interview questions through their mentors (usually analysts at banks) and circulate them to candidates. Not sure how much truth there is to it but wondering if people at other banks are experiencing something similar

A quarter of the mentors from these agencies are Ivey and McGill alum so wouldn’t be surprised

if you throw a curveball and they know the framework and are able to apply said framework properly, what is the issue? that's just preparing normally...

Funniest

I throw every resume and send every email straight to the trash if there's a mainland Chinese name.

I believe it has been common over the past years - I’m at a top target US school and I know international kids who landed top offers (EVR, Q, GS) by paying their way through this program and getting the exact bank q’s given in interviews through their “network”. However, they keep it very down low.

Especially if it’s an Chinese guy / girl from a good but not top school lol (I.e, northwestern, UChicago, duke, NYU, etc). Insane how bad these kids are once they hit the desk

My firm stopped recruiting from Northwestern after a Chinese girl totally shit the bed during her internship but aced the technicals

Indians, Chinese, Koreans (and Canadians which nowadays are mainly the three groups I just mentioned) will cheat and backstab to get ahead

True. Indians as well. An Indian analyst on my team got caught last year leaking it to another Indian who was a sophomore going through recruiting

And white people favor other white people lol. I’m not Indian but hearing this place complain about “they play favorites, that’s unfair” when you have white people doing the same on an even bigger scale but not complaining about it is crazy. Jewish pulling for other Jewish talent, white seniors pulling for kids who went to their same prep school, etc. It happens like crazy. Isn’t so fun when someone else is doing it I guess.

Just say you worked for EVR HOU. This group is notorious for Indians, Chinese, and Canadians pulling for people from the same background, and they don’t even try to hide it. Indians and Chinese would directly text or even call people to send them interview questions

The analyst class is almost exclusively people of color, roughly one-third Indian, one-third Chinese, and one-third Canadian, with some DEI Hispanics from some shit school like UH. My friend, the only white American guy in the office, left and complained about how terrible they were to work with and how they had promoted another Canadian to MD

This isn’t just some Asian trend like many on here are trying to make. I have heard about it happening among white target kids as well. Especially when people get to offcycle PE recruiting in which people interview with different timelines, model tests and technicals bounce around the street like a cold.
