Credit rating advisory

Hi gents, I have an interview lined up for an internship opportunity in the credit rating advisory practice of an elite boutique, think Laz,Roth. Obtained through guerrilla networking. It would be my first internship and this is def the strongest brandname i could get but what's this business about anyway ? can someone shed some light i wasn't able to find much info. And could this be leveraged for SA Recruiting in Europe. Thank you !

basically helping first time bond issuers deal with the rating agencies and the process of obtaining a rating which has a massive impact for them on their cost of debt.

Good first experience and if it's a strong brand name go for it but careful not to stay too long as you will otherwise be quickly pigeonholed as the 'rating guy'

Natural next step would be for you to join a high yield team next as that ratings experience would be helpful

thanks! it's for a 4months internship so i hope that wouldn't categorize me as a rating guy. i'm interested in Restructuring then m&a. what sort of technical questions could i expect ? i have modeling knowledge and i'm familiar with all kinds of debt instruments and covenants but i have no idea about what rating agencies actually care about. and the offer says i'd be dealing with blue chip comps so not really first-time bond issuers.
