Cufflinks & ties

How popular are cufflinks as opposed to button cuffs among UK bankers (I'm not based in the UK so I'm curious)?

What sort of necktie patterns/styles are deemed conservative enough to be acceptable (for an intern)

Cuff links IMO are more popular in London than NYC. quite a few in my London team wear them, with fewer in NYC. This is only an anecdote, of course, and I could be wrong.

The pandemic has changed the dress code a lot - when you WFH the cuff links may make a pretty bad noise when they touch the desk while in meetings. therefore not a good choice for WFH/virtual meetings.

Yes, f2f totally acceptable. french cuffs/links and a nice tie, shirt.

just count the amount of jewellery you wear and count the cuff links as well. Men have a cut off around 4-6. too much and it looks weird

cuff links 2x, glasses 1x, watch 1x and you have another item left for a wedding band or something like that. I would not go much higher because men who are overloaded look a bit off.

And that's appropriate for banking internship interview candidates in London (I'm from Africa btw)?

Why would you think it’s different for interview vs first day at work? Same advice mate

Cufflinks are quite common in London, especially knots silk ones

Why's everyone saying to wear ties? No one in my team wore a tie and only 2 people wore suits (3 incl. me).
