Cypress Associates LLC?

Hi,

does anyone know much about this firm? Culture, type of work, rep, or any interview tips? They stated that they want finance or accounting majors but that they'd consider econ majors as well. Does this translate into heavy technical questions in interviews? Thanks a lot in advance.

As long as you enjoy doing litigation consulting, you'll love this place.

the firm's revenues are 30% from M&A advisory, 20% from capital raising and 50% from litigation consulting. In an environment where M&A and capital raising is so diminished that big banks are competing for small deals, I wouldn't expect to get much deal experience from these guys. I expect for the next year the breakdown will be more along the lines of 5% capital raising, 5% M&A advisory and 90% litigation consulting.

They claim to compete with HLHZ/Deloitte in fairness/solvency opinions but they really just lose to them on most assignments.

As far as the questions go, I would suggest you know the basics of accounting and valuation. Don't expect them to ask you complicated questions. I doubt the analysts/associates know how to do any complicated financial analysis themselves.

They pitch a good amount, have a shitty cramped office and poor hygiene. Oh yeah, I said poor hygiene. Meet some of them, and you'll see what I mean.

I know this sounds pretty bad but I and a few other colleagues have had very poor experiences/impressions with them through interviewing, beauty contests, client meetings, etc.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

Outch, that sounds kinda rough but I appreciate the honesty. I suppose it doesn't hurt to go to an interview to get a sense for the firm.
