Controversial

Pay below market, exits trash, work on trash deals.

Upside: Southern California. If you aren’t in CA then there are no upsides other than having IB on your resume.

I did get contacted for their DI group in Denver about a month ago. The process began last week of April and ended in a rejection by end of May. I can't speak to other offices and levels, but the role I interviewed for was the Experienced Analyst with 1-2 years of IB. The process of straight forward. First round with HR and asking why DA and what qualifies you for the role. Second round with an associate asking about interest in the industry and level of experience. Third and final round in office with 8-10 people in a standard super day format. Expect technical and to explain why that group and their firm. Also, the HR professional is very prompt and pleasure to work with.

Some general tips

* If you are not located in Denver, express willingness and openness to relocating.

* Be able to tie any past experience to the role.

* Explain why this bank stands out from others

* Know your deals (business overview, deal type, financial metrics, and some considerations)

* Know your role on each deal.

* Don't oversell your experience. With any IB role they are just trying to know if you understand how to work in a  team and understand the general M&A process. They want to know this as it tells them how much if any training they have to put into to you.

Hope that helps and feel free to PM if you have any questions

Analyst 2 in IB-M&A

Lol this sounds strangely contemptuous for a post to a thread that hasn’t been commented on in months…i.e. you had to search for the firm in the archives, then proceed to type a very targeted and angry post about a particular group which you supposedly weren’t even a part of…🤔

We found the DA analyst! Ironic that you complain about months going by and this thread wasn't even on the first 10 pages of WSO by the time you responded.

The FIG team is solid. Rest of the bank is sort of sad. Tons of turnover due to below market comp and sub par deal flow. The tech team in particular seems to be just doing fintech deals at this point as most of the software bankers left for other firms. If you really want to get a job in banking it’s likely a decent place to do a year and then lateral to a platform with better pay and deal flow.

do you think their FIG team is as good as the other mm banks w/ decent fig practices? like piper/stifel/hl

Depends on the FIG vertical, I only have some exposure to their banks team, which would be ~2 tiers below Stifel/KBW and Piper (personally view RJ/Stephens 1 tier below KBW/Piper and DADCO 1 tier below RJ/Stephens)

Going to buyside from DA Davidson FIG would be tough but lateraling to BB FIG is doable if you're able to get solid technical experience.

Reviving the thread. Any info on the lifestyle aspects (particularly NYC - wlb, benefits, meal stipends, etc) ?

why is evb deleting info?
