  1. Based on the most helpful WSO content, if you’ve just started a position in April and are applying for internships immediately, it’s best to list the duration as April-Present. This reflects that you are currently in the role and avoids any potential misrepresentation of your timeline.

  2. For the experience section, you can include a brief description of the tasks and responsibilities you are expected to handle, based on the job description or what has been communicated to you. It’s common to outline the scope of the role even if you haven’t completed significant tasks yet. Use future tense sparingly or stick to past tense for consistency and readability. For example:

  • "Assisting in financial modeling and analysis for M&A transactions."
  • "Conducting market research and preparing pitch materials for client presentations."

This approach ensures your resume remains relevant and professional while acknowledging the early stage of your current role.

Good question to ask.

  1. Put April - September so it clarifies that it's a fixed term role and they know when you are available from. Don't do present as this creates unnecessary ambiguity with no benefit
  2. Refer to your job description / envisage what sort of stuff you will be doing in terms of experience. You won't be able to say "worked on 2 live deals etc." but if you are sending applications before you start the job "engaging in deal execution/IM preparation etc" or specify which deal size you will be engaged with. Obviously before you start the job you won't have much to say but that is OK
