Delay Graduation? (repost for traction)
Hey y’all, I’m a junior at a target studying finance w w 3.8+ and I signed a 2024 buy side of offer at a decently well known firm but middle market still. I tried recruiting ib and had supers at a couple ebs/bbsbut no offers. I really do want ib as I know optionality out of ug is extremely important but I think I’d have a really hard time recruiting ft given others will have ibexp. Is it worth delaying grad to re recruit for SA 2025 and will banks even be willing to give me another chance? Should I avoid anyone I chatted last year? I would really appreciate any advice!
Bump
Are you able to squeeze in another degree in you last two years (so a bachelors+masters in 5)? If so it could be worth the hassle
do you know how I would go about reaching out to people? Should u avoid those people I already chatted?
-Bump
These answers are stupid. If you actually have a FT buy side offer as an undergrad, join that group.
Sorry it’s a SA offer not ft if that’s confusing
Why can’t you recruit for internships after your pe internship?
I would be a senior in college then so only eligible for full time roles
Is IB SA required for FT?
Bump - also considering
Think this is fine, especially at a target. Just push back 1 semester to December and hit the pavement hard for SA 2025. No need to pick up an extra degree, just space out your classes more.
How would you recommend going about recruiting. For any firms I supered at, should I reach out to the same people?
I would prioritize firms/groups you did not get that far in the process with (no interview or rejected after first round)
Firms that already took you to a superday + rejected you once are probably not going to let you do their process again.
are there any risks?
Hey do you know if you need to be enrolled in school before your summer internship? I was planning to take a gap semester to complete an internship the spring before. Would firms allow this?
.
Because this thread got bumped, I’d heavily suggest keeping the option to graduate on time. An offer in hand (especially a buy-side offer) is insanely valuable in the current job climate. Do not risk losing a sure-fire offer unless you have another offer.

I did this to get my current internship by adding a minor to my undergrad. Worked for me, but also would’ve dropped the minor if I didn’t get an offer.
