Did I get rejected from this IB internship

I had a super day last week for a small investment bank. It went really well and after the interview, I was told that they are doing interviews this week and at the latest would have an offer letter out before Thanksgiving. My friend today got a rejection email from them today (he never made it to the super day). It has been silent on my end. Am I still in the running or waitlisted or should I assume rejection?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights:

  1. Wait for Official Communication: Silence does not necessarily mean rejection. If the bank mentioned they would have an offer letter out before Thanksgiving, it is best to wait until that deadline has passed before making any assumptions.

  2. Follow-Up: If you haven't heard back by the specified deadline, it might be appropriate to send a polite follow-up email to HR or the person who coordinated your interview. Reiterate your interest in the position and inquire about the status of your application.

  3. Comparison with Peers: The fact that your friend received a rejection email and you haven't could be a positive sign. It might indicate that you are still being considered.

  4. Patience and Backup Plans: While waiting, continue to explore other opportunities and network with professionals in the industry. This ensures you have options regardless of the outcome.

In summary, you should wait until the specified deadline (before Thanksgiving) and consider sending a follow-up email if you haven't heard back by then.
