Difficulty lateraling from NYC to SF
I’ll be starting a summer internship as an MBA associate at a bulge bracket IB (think Barclays, BofA, Citi, MS, etc.) very soon. I landed the spot in NYC, but for a number of reasons, I want to be in SF long term. Just wondering if anyone has experience making this lateral move and can shed some light on the process. Is it difficult? Does it require a lot of interviews, or is it mostly about knowing someone who can help get you a spot?
Edit - I should add that I don't mind staying in NYC for a year or two before lateraling (assuming I get a return offer after this summer). What does the typical timeline for lateraling from coast to coast look like?
