Digned or still a chance?

Fellow monkeys,

I had a weekend trip recently and had 5 informational interviews arranged. Once of them mutated in a real one: I drop by the office and ask a reception girl to give a call to the banker and tell him that I am waiting downstairs (we agreed to grab a coffee). Instead, she asks my name and gives me the badge, saying "They asked you to go upstairs".

I take the elevator, go up and meet the MD. He has like 10 mins and asks to quickly pitch myself. I assemble my story in a 2-minutes speech mainly emphasizing soft skills and how easy it would be to work with me. The rest was a standard mix of "attention to detail", "strong passion for finance" etc. Then he says they have an AC in a week or two and that the analyst will come to interview me.

The Analyst comes, tells a lot about the team, we have some fit questions and generally I end the interview with a feeling that I was blessed by the god that day.

After a weekend, I get an e-mail with rejection, a standard one (like I got from the other bank when failing to get invited for the 1st round).

So I doubt whether this e-mail is a consequence of me fucking up that interview or just that sudden interview has no connection with this and I have my shot on that team.

Please advice on the matter.

I think there is a 99% chance you didn't get it. Is it a big bank? If it is then maybe there was a mix-up, if its a small bank, you most likely got dinged.

If you are this retarded, it's safe to say you aren't getting the job. They emailed you and said you didn't get the job. What don't you understand?
