Diversity hires
Hi, fellow monkeys.
I'll be starting as a finance major in a few months and wanted to better understand the whole "diversity hire" concept on Wall Street and in IB.
I'm pretty fucking much the definition of diversity; in fact, I think it's the reason I got into a T20. I got 6 different nationalities (two from South America and 4 from Europe) and speak all the languages, and I plan on taking full advantage of the diversity recruiting process.
I've spoken with a few students at my university who got internships at BB's through diversity programs and have built a pretty good idea of how the process compares to "regular" pipelines (diversity recruiting events, different interview question sets, etc.), but I still wanted to know WSO's take on it since this site has been incredibly helpful to me in the past.
Is the timeline any different? Is there somewhere in particular I should look for these opportunities? Any other thing you think I might be missing? I know by "diversity" I'm not exactly what banks are looking for (I'm physically white and have a European name), but it still can't hurt to try, right? If it doesn't work out, I can still try the regular recruiting process in parallel.
Thanks in advance monkeys
