Do Graduate Degrees Hold any Value Once You've Broken In?

The path used to be something along the lines of a few years of banking, go back to a top business school, and then return to the industry with an additional reputable degree to improve your resume / profile, securing a better position with better pay. Curious as to how those currently on the desk have changed their plans given the tough hiring market now. Seems like the value of that graduate degree isn't as valuable at this point in time and the stronger choice may be holding onto your position and if looking to make a move, just lateraling. Are people still looking at going back to business school or has the ship sailed?
