Do I still have a chance?

I had a superday 2 days ago (it’s now been over 48 hours). Is it safe to say that I likely did not get the offer and I’m no longer being considered for the role? What is the typical timeline in regards to hearing back after a SD? Is it worth following in after a week or should I not waste my time? There appears to be a lot of disparity among this topic.

This is for FT btw but I imagine the same would apply to those currently recruiting for SA

While the typical timeline is 1-2 days as you said, I wouldn’t necessarily lose all hope. These HR departments are an absolute mess and can take a little longer to get back to you. You should definitely follow up and continue expressing interest. There is also a chance you are waitlisted and they are waiting for the other candidates to make a decision. I have a friend that followed up 3 times over the course of 2 weeks before finally getting an offer. The HR department also mentioned that they appreciated their continued expression of interest.

So don’t lose hope and if it doesn’t go your way, then keep going and be persistent. It’s also a game of luck at the end of the day.

Very much appreciate your insight - trying to keep the stakes low here and continue pushing forward. The challenge is that there are little to no FT positions left out there.

In general, who is making the decision to send out offers to candidates? I have heard that usually the interviewers will meet up after and chat to decide who they liked and then call up candidates - but I have also heard that in some cases it is actually HR who makes the call after pooling interviewers notes together. What would be the case for an EB like LAZ/EVR/PJT in a case like this?

At an EB, who does it make sense to follow up with? A member of the team/someone who interviewed you or HR?

Probably rejection or waitlist. I'd mentally view it as a rejection and keep trucking on recruiting - if they call you, amazing, if not then you have your answer

Can't exactly get the answer changed to offer by following up after they ghost you, but you can do it if you want. I'd only do it once though, it's annoying to continue following up unless they explicitly say you are waitlisted

Per OP's question above, who is usually making the decision to send out offers to candidates? For an EB would it be the interviewers or HR after they pool all notes together?

OP here - appreciate your insight. The SD was on Wednesday tho so I imagine there probably was a window to discuss but maybe they’ll be getting around to it next week. Does the team/those who interviewed candidates make the final call or is it HR?
