IBD in my firm. Analysts are trained together and paid similarly.
you know people talk about all the great exit opps (like PE) you get from working in investment banking? yeah, that doesn't apply to ECM.
... yet ECM can work more manageable hours and get paid the same base and bonus, according to what I've seen here. Career ECM doesn't exactly sound like a prison sentence to me.
As someone who isn't obsessed with getting into PE or modeling until 3am, and is interested in the buyside and equity exit opportunities, I'll take my equal pay to IBD, better hours, plenty of exit opps., and interesting work any day...
End of Story, unless you are in ECM or know people who are and where they've gone, please don't comment.
Do any of you guys work in ECM? What kinda work do you do? Could somebody please tell a noob a little bit more about ECM? Thanks in advance.
