EXTREMELY non-target Uni with previous IB experience

I had previous IB internship experience outside Europe before gaining admission into a UK master's programme to recruit for London SA without realising (back then) how badly a no-name school would cause an auto-reject regardless of how strong the rest of your application is (I was naively over-confident about the advantage my previous IB experience would confer). I got to learn this the hard way this recruiting season.

I am open to mentorship and any open SA or off-cycle roles at small or large banks that might still exist at this late point in time (hopefully one which sponsors visas; my Msc programme is an online distance-learning programme actually, so I'm not physically based in the UK); be it London or republic of Ireland.

I need any help I can get at this point despite knowing hope for 2023 is thin. If only I could just get a single interview (such as a phone interview or AC) without being screened out due to being in a no-name school, I am confident I can shine; my technicals are strong. I might be rambling in despair but I don't know what else to do.

Also try Big4. Then lateral from there in your home country.

1. It is impossible to get into any high finance role from a university like Salford (unless you have 20+ years of experience) and a quick LinkedIn search would’ve revealed that to you.

2. You have already missed the application season for 2023 SA.

3. We’re in a recession, even top candidates are struggling to land IB roles.

I’d suggest you drop out of Salford, do the GRE/GMAT and apply for top business schools for September 2023 or 2024 entry.

Is GMAT required for MSc?

or would it give an added advantage in addition to a good GRE score in Msc applications to target schools?
