Feasibility of an S&T FT to IBD Lateral?

I know there are some old threads on this, but most of them focus on S&T SA to IBD FT, or internal laterals. From those who have done it or seen it happen, how feasible is a move from S&T to IB full time? Especially with a decent brand-name on resume. Would ideally want to move after 1st year in order to reset as quickly as possible.

Hey hyfrrrrr, what a lonely thread. I'm here since nobody responded ...so maybe one of these discussions will help:

Not quite sure what situation you are in, but it seems possible (depending on what group you are in right now in S&T and what group you want to move into in IBD).

I think there may be more room to change between S&T and IBD if you are in a structuring role and want to do an internal lateral as a full time hire. If you're on a flow desk, there's definitely more a compelling narrative as why you want to do IBD imo, but there would still be a lot of legwork in terms of networking. I would take laterals made in the past two years with a grain of salt. The lateral market was way too hot; it won't be that hot in the next year or so.

I don't know if this is helpful, but when changing from non-IBD to IBD, I think a traditional IBD background helps (target-school/PE experience). Or at least this is the impression I got from talking to people.

I also think there is a general perception that S&T is less "good" than IBD, but I don't really understand why. I think they are typically more willing to recruit people with less manicured resumes, but there are also way less spots. You are also on a good path to hit 400k-500k by 30.

Would you say after An1 year would be the best time to move then? Probably wouldn’t be the best idea to leave before that right?
