Few questions about networking/cold emails...

Hey guys, first post on here, please don't tear me a new asshole.

Have a few questions about networking and asking someone for a chat:

  1. What "ranks" do I reach out to? Do I limit myself to analysts and associates or can I rifle some off to VPs, directors, and MDs? Would that be a time waste/too ballsy?
  2. When cold emailing should I use recipients personal or work, or both?
  3. How long do I make my email? Is it just - "Hi _____, My name is John and I'm a sophomore at ______. At school I do ______and my experience is in____________. Im interested in your __________. If you have availability id love to hop on a quick call and learn more about _______. My availability is open. Thank you, John - with personal touch.
  4. Can Ai write these for me if its not blatant with the em dashes and excessive punctuation/other dead giveaways?
  5. When to send emails?
  6. Which ones do you respond to?

That's all. Any other tips appreciated. Thanks!

  1. depends on how many alumni you have. If a bank has a bunch of people and there is a standardized process, reach out to analysts first, then at end of chats ask for additional people to speak with - they will give asso. if youve spoken to all analysts/impressed them - continue this to the top.

  2. Use work emails
  3. give specific availability
  4. sure AI can write it, but the emails wont change much so not much critical thinking needed - would just write urself.
  5. send emails to analysts between 7-9pm. VPs and MDs 730-830am schedule send. not on the dot tho

I don’t respond to the ones that aren’t personalized - and no, mentioning we went to the same school / same major is not personalized enough. Once that bar has been set then it’s just kind of dependent
