FIG SA Advice Needed
Hello,
Long time reader first time poster. I have been allocated to FIG at my summer analyst stint. Not my first choice as from what I have read the skill set is a very specific one.
Could anyone give me general advice on the best ways to prepare for FIG or the best resources to look at between now and my start date so that I can get up to speed on what is going on in this space.
For example, I could be wrong but I believe that regular comparables analysis and DCF modelling does not apply in the same way to FIG. If so could I get some advice on how it is different, and how I could prepare somewhat for this?
Sorry if these seem very simple questions, just want to learn as much as I can before I start.
Any advice would be great, thanks.
sum of parts analysis, I believe
There is plenty out there regarding Financial Institutions from academics. I would suggest reading up on asset/liability management, capital ratios, repricing gaps, and interest rate/credit risk. This will give you a solid core understanding of the industry.
Thanks for the advice. Anymore from anyone with experience?
