Fintech to IB

Hello all. I'm a fintech software engineer wanting to break into finance, specifically IBD. I'm curious on getting input on the best way to go about this from those in the field. My background: I've been close to finance all my career having built investment research algorithms, derivatives pricing, and been a part of some decently well-known open source financial software. My work experience has been across a couple startups. I've been an engineer for 4 years after graduating an Ivy undergrad. My motivation to get into IB is to find more client-facing work and be on the pure finance side (not engineering). I'm good with people and not a socially awkward engineer. Main obstacles for me I think might be my age (26). Anyone have input on making the switch? Thanks.
