Following up for Internship
So I have a tentative offer from a boutique investment bank in LA, for which I have had a couple phone interviews. They told me that they would be willing to discuss a full-time summer internship when I get back from traveling abroad in June, and that I should feel free to contact them whenever.
I was wondering what are some of things I can do to help secure my internship position, I assume they will inevitably interview more people between now and June. Should I ask them for things to prepare me for an internship or materials to learn more about their industry, etc.? Or would that be too forward?

Never heard of a "tentative" offer really. Most internships will start in early June, so I would do whatever possible to have an offer sent to you abroad and get it signed and set in stone. Wouldn't want to come back and be empty handed.
Well, they said that I should come back to discuss a possible internship in the summer. I had a couple phone interviews, how do you suggest that I try to get it set more in stone?
bump, any help please?
i would send them an email that makes it clear you will work there if given an offer and give them the exact date you can start working full-time.
I think that would be a little too forward, they said to come back to the US then they could discuss an internship in the summer. From my point of view, it's more of a "we like you, but want to see you before giving you an offer." I'm looking at ways to keep me in their minds since I imagine they will interview more people, but I do think I should email them that I would take the offer if given to me--it might be weird just saying that out of the blue though.
oh alright, well what exactly did they say that gave you the impression this was a "tentative offer"?
Maybe tentative offer is the wrong phrase, but they seemed genuinely interested over the phone and in email. they said that "once you get back we can then discuss a possible internship in the summer" and that they have taken qualified sophomore candidates like myself (they usually take juniors or older) and not to hesitate to contact them.
Again, I would like to show my commitment to the firm so that they are less likely to choose someone else, since I have no way to cover my ass here.
well it doesn't sound like there is a whole lot you can do before you get back from being abroad. Maybe, shoot them an email asking them some sort of intelligent question regarding the position, or you can just email them in a few weeks just letting them know you are still very interested in the summer position and are excited about the opportunity to work with them. Other than that, there isnt much you can do, just make sure to get in touch with them asap when you're back from abroad.
