Freshman internship to propel into IB

I’m an incoming finance student and I was wondering what’s a feasible internship for post-freshman summer that would also help propel me/give me valuable skills for a future IB career.

One thing that helped me was doing a boutique IB internship (that goes beyond getting coffee for your boss). If you go to school in/near a city, there will likely be lots of smaller advisory shops (~10-30 people) that could use the cheap labor - these places can be top-heavy, without a lot of juniors to do the grunt work. Send emails to as many alumni in the area as you can find, and often going straight to the top in terms of seniority will yield better results. Target places without structured recruiting/HR departments, as these will likely be more likely to take a chance on freshman with little or no experience. If your school is well-regarded in the area, you have top grades, and are involved in related clubs on campus, your odds will be good.

In interviews, having these experiences will allow you to show proven interest in IB on your resume and give you significant material to discuss with your interviewer, If the internship is useful, you'll be leagues ahead of your peers. Just my thoughts, I'm sure there are other paths too.
