From BB IB M&A to small M&A boutique
Currently considering moving back to my childhood low COL city after 3 years in the M&A team of a BB. I received an offer from an 8-men M&A shop covering SMEs (50m EV). Relative salary (factoring the different cost of living) would be the same, although a bit lower at the boutique. In terms of prestige it would be a huge downgrade.
Do you have any insights to help me make a decision? I am mostly worried about exit opps from a no-name boutique and the fact that it could be perceived as a weird career trajectory.
