FT Recruiting and Networking Right Now

Hi all,

I have been grinding out my networking and contacts list and plan to start reaching out to everyone starting in May. I was wondering if I should be worried about reaching out and networking now for possible FT interviews given the current economic climate.

I know some threads have said that EBs and some other large firms will still probably have SOME spots, but since I only have accounting experience, I'm trying to recruit at some of the smaller boutiques and MM firms.I see on some applications and some websites saying to email HR for further info on FT recruiting.

Do you guys think that I can still network and email HR right now, or will most firms just turn to me and say that they're on a hiring freeze and so I should wait to reach out to my networks later in the year or even have to wait until next year?
