Fucked up

To cut it short failed my sie and will start later than my class due 30 day waiting period. Can’t go into the office or anything until I retake it so how do I bounce back from this shouldn’t have failed but it is what it is now have to move forward, everyone is gonna know because I won’t start with the class so like how do I not fuck up more

Writing is on the wall: don't fail this time. You'll get shit for this for a good minute but make it up by churning out perfect work. Easier said than done but view yourself as an associate when you're working on stuff. i.e, check every number and fact on your page and be sure its defendable before it goes to next in command. You know you fucked this up (whether it be not studying enough, not executing, etc), so now you need to get your head in the game. Not the end of the world as your other classmates will make mistakes on the desk that will be actual problems (deals leaked, sending out the wrong document thereby revealing other buyers, copying wrong person on email that wasn't cleared, etc). Learn from this and make this the last time this happens. Stop fucking up. Let's go brother.

Yea so I wasn't confident going in (mentally) as I failed by one question but breezed through 79 and 63 so I know I'll past the next time. I will miss our group specific training so like how do I catchup do others. Since I won't have access to things how do I practice, I essentially have 3 weeks before I retake it again and hit the desk. Since everyone will know as I just won't be there for group training my best bet would be to work my ass off when I hit the desk to prove myself essentially? And wym I will get shit like I know my as will be embrassed when I first walk in

After you pass, take the first 3 weekends and catch up on your shit and start to get ahead. First 2 months is everyone figuring out who they like, how to do excel, PPT again, and the basics. Try to learn that on the weekend. Nothing you can do other than pass and just be the best at executing work. Best investment is just passing now because others will make mistakes as well.

There's no such thing as a "shitty deal" right now. Most groups only have 1 or 2 going on if that. By nature of you not being on the desk, you won't have a deal period unless you're in FIG or a group that is seeing some momentum right now.

What I meant was that you'll be "that analyst" who failed. People will shit on you silently for that. At least for right now. You make that up by delivering top quality work and having a great attitude. We all label people when we first meet them. With you being absent for the first few weeks, you'll be "the stupid one" who just didn't pass for whatever reason. Especially if everyone else in the class passed. It matters to the staffers and to the head admin because you're creating a little more paper and headaches. Nothing you can do about it. The scale of "getting shit for this" will depend on group culture. Some groups will be more understanding and try their best to just leave it unsaid and try to be accommodating to you missing things. Other groups will expect you to make it up on your own. Neither is right or wrong it is just different.

I do want to highlight that this won't be forgotten easily. Think about it this way. The group has nothing to judge anyone on right now. They don't want to. No news is good news. The only task you had was to pass and you didn't. Therefore, as of right now, you are "below" the other analysts because you didn't prepare effectively. Right or wrong, anyone who says otherwise is lying to you. Again, this is not the end of the world. Every bank has kids who don't pass. The best solution is to try and kill the work you produce and make it perfect so people quickly forget about you being the odd man out right now. If I've learned anything in banking, it is that people should know you for your work. Don't let it be for anything else. Right now that is not the case for you. Just let this be a lesson and move on.

I failed my 63 in the first attempt, took it again 6 months later and passed it. Ended up ranked first in my group at the end of the year. If you don’t tell anyone your group will respect your privacy. Study harder and pass it and never think about it again.

Thank you! I wont tell anyone but everyone will know as I won’t be the only one there I assume I don’t plan on to tell others but I’m sure people will find out. So that’s kinda freaking me out
