I would relax, see if you like the southern city, and wait at least a couple months before even thinking about bringing any of those up.
No one likes someone who literally just accepted a job, only to think about moving.
No other bank is going to hire a lateral with less than 6 months experience (at a minimum) anyway.
But with regard to the options you presented, probably 1 or 2. If it's more about NYC than anything else, then maybe you can look for buyside jobs there too (but this is a bit trickier for non-NYC analysts).
Thanks for the advice, definitely need to just relax and give it some time. I always think way too far in advance.
Quick note: you said options 1 and 2 were best, why don't you like 3? I was thinking staying with the same firm and seeking to get an associate promotion to NYC with them would be a good way not to burn any bridges.
Because you said you want to be in NYC "ASAP". Option 3 forces you to wait (at least) 2 years and also does not guarantee you will be in NYC - unless you get something in writing, the firm could just as easily keep you in your original city based on "need". The others, if successful, will at least guarantee you NYC and will likely allow you to move sooner.
