Global and asset manager at BlackRock

Hi everyone,

I have a friend who just got an intern at "global and asset manager" team with BlackRock as a portfolio analytic intern. Could someone please explain to me what kind of works they will do there? I heard it is like working in a middle office where people calculate the risks involved with traders' transactions, but I am not sure this is a correct statement. Also, in comparison with the similar position in BBs, which one is harder to land a job? Which one is more prestigious?

About the job itself, what kind of skills and knowledge does it require? How many hours does it require and how much could an analyst make?

Any info would be much appreciated.
