GS TMT vs FIG

Hey all,

Landed a GS offer through their regular process (target school). Had two TMT interviewers and two FIG interviews during my process - both sets responded to my follow-ups and offered to speak to me about their groups.

I realize that these are considered the "top" groups at the bank, so I really just wanted to get a sense of differences in culture, deal flow, exit ops, etc between the groups.

Thanks guys!

TMT hands down. Take it from a FIG banker, FIG sucks.
' i disagree. not too familiar with the differences between the two groups, so I can't comment on that. both are top groups, so exit opps should be similar. i'd choose the industry you're most interested in. personally, i enjoy FIG. some people don't. it really depends on your personal interests. plus, you're going to be working a lot of hours in both groups. might as well learn/work in the industry that best fits you.

Care to go into a little deeper? Are you getting any exposure to fin-tech or anything that doesn't fall under banks/insurance?

Most people will either say FIG is boring as shit or that it pigeonholes you too much for the future, or a combination of the two.

TMT is always in the news, "cooler" deals, and a top group. It won't pigeonhole you either. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

You got into two of the most prestigious groups of the most prestigious bank on Wall Street and you are asking here for advice / rely on which one to take? If you got this far, I am sure you can figure out a better way to get this information...?
